Why We Do – Vishwasada Mane

MALLIKA BEGUM

Mallika Begum was picked up from Mangalore streets and brought to Vishwasada Mane mentally rehabilitation centre on 14/12/2009 .She seemed to be suffering from a psychiatric condition.Initially she was scolding herself in Bengali language,wore a dirty saree.When she came to our Vishwasada Mane Rehabilitation Center, she was looked after with love, care and proper doctor’s treatment.After many months of treatment, she began responding and getting better.

She was friendly and compassionate towards her fellows and our staffs.She began to do daily works like,cleaning,farming,etc with our staffs.A deep desire to meet her family started showing up.After many days she can able to remember her family members.As she began coming back to normal psychiatrically, expert questioning and probing by trained staffs and Doctors,she told that she was from Dubri,Assam.After her husband’s death she was mentally disturbed and unknowingly she came to Mangalore city.She was able to remember name of her Children’s.Meanwhile through our network, we tried our best to trace all links to her relatives in Dubri and Assam,but all in vain.One of our consulting Doctor’s team took initiative to search for her address.Their two years of continuous effort led to her family being traced, which led to a extremely happy reunion on 18/09/2021.Her son came to Vishwasada mane to take Mallika with him.He told us that she left home 14 years back.Now Mallika leading a joyful life with her children’s.

Ponnarasu

On 23-01-2007 near Katpady highway road Ponnarasu was found. He was bare footed and wore a dirty shirt and lungi.He was an orphan and was suffering from mental illness. One of staff of the Vishwasada mane brought Ponnarasu to organisation. In Vishwasada Mane he was looked after with the love, care of our staff members and proper doctors treatment.After many months of treatment,he began responding and getting better. As she began coming back to normal psychiatrically.Two of our staff members traced his address and reunited him to his family. When the family members saw him they were surprised. Ponnarasu is now leaving a very happy life with his family.

BASAPPA

65 years aged Basappa was depressed and mentally ill,wandering near Ambagilu,Udupi without having any food for many days.Through District Disabled and Senior citizens welfare office,Udupi Basappa was admitted on 22/02/2018 to Vishwasada Mane Oldage home. In Vishwasada Mane he was looked after with the love, care of our staff members and proper doctors treatment. Within 15 days of nursing and psychiatric care and treatment,he improved radically.Basappa was very nice and friendly to all.In Later days he informed the staffs about his home town in Bagalkot.

Our team tried to trace his address in Bagalkot because of wrong address we couldn’t able to find his family.After many months we posted a letter in September 2021 hopefully it was reached to his home.After speaking with his son through phone call he confirmed that he would come and take Basappa with him.On 9/10/2021 we witnessed a happy reunion with his son, after 8 long years of separation.

KALYANI

Kalyani had gone for psychological treatment to Mumbai and got missed from there. She was reunited with her family after 27 years.Her family members drew her near with love.The last 27 years are just like a movie. Kalyani Vasudev Naik, native place is vaingantad. After her marriage she suffered from psychological problem. She was taking psychiatric treatment, but there was no much improvement. So her father took her to Mumbai in the year 1983-84 for better treatment. Psychiatric doctor suggested that she has to go through for shock treatment. As she heard this, she got scared and ran away from the house. All her family members left her hope.After leaving from Mumbai she took a train from Gujrat to return home but unfortunately because of her mental illness she reached Mangalore. Kalyani stayed in railway station for many days. On public demand she was brought to Vishwasada Mane Mentally Rehabilitation Center. When she came to rehabilitation center, she had a Tiffin carrier and a gunny bag. Our organization staff looked after with love & care and also got proper psychiatric treatment with our psychiatric doctor. Because of Love & care she regain her memory power.Later on she is able to remember her family and started to request the organization members to reunite with her family .On 12th September by the help of organization staff she reached home through the police station. As she reached home, all her family members eyes were filled with tears of joy.

Chandra shekar

Chandra was 28 years old male person. He was found on 4-9-2009 wandering in front of the City Hospital Mangalore.He was picking rubbish ,eating from the garbage and enjoying himself,displayed classic symptoms of mental illness.

On public demand he was brought to Vishwasada Mane mentally Rehabilitation Centre from Mangalore. When he came to organization he was always smiling and not able to talk. He didn’t had bath for months as a result his body was stinking with bad odor. His hair was full of knots and beard grown long. In Vishwasada Mane he was looked after with the love, care of our staff members and proper doctors treatment.Because of proper treatment and care he regains his mental health. After he learned mason work and he was ready to go his native place. We came to know that his native place was in Hosa Halli village in Hassan. According to his saying we understood that he has studied up to C.T.H. We find out the address and our organization took a responsibility of reuniting him with his family.

Sonavva

Sonavva is a 60 years old woman. She was roaming near Mangalore railway station. She had lice, ulcers, bruises and festering wounds on her body.She was laughing, muttering to herself and displayed classic symptoms of mental illness.On public demand she was brought to Vishwasada Mane Mentally Rehabilitation Center from the railway station. In the beginning due to loss of memory power she was not able to speak properly, neither she was able to say her home address. When she was brought to our Vishwasada Mane Rehabilitation Center, she was looked after with love, care and proper doctor’s treatment. Later on as our doctor’s treatment & care of our staff she got normal mental state. As she got normal by her doctor’s suggestion discharged from the Vishwasada Mane Mentally Rehabilitation Center.Due to lack of proper address we shifted her to Karunalaya Oldage Home. In the later days she was able to recollect her home address. Through that address, on Tuesday 11-09-2012 our organization took a responsibility of reuniting with her family in Dandeli. The members of our organization with great difficulty found out her address and reached to her home town and handed over to her daughter and son in law. When our staff members reached there seeing the tears of her daughter, they were also almost in tears. They were tired because of searching her mother from last five and half years. It is impossible to express the joy of her family. Now Sonavva is spending life with her daughter and son in law joyfully. This is the fruit of our noble service in our Vishwasada Mane.

RASKUTTY

Raskutty was mentally ill and wandering around on the streets,had no proper clothes. He was rescued by Vishwasada mane team at Kinnimulki on 01-05-2010. When he came to Vishwasada mane he was not talking to anyone ,standing for long time.In Vishwasada Mane he was looked after with the love, care of our staff members and proper medical treatment. After many months of treatment, he began responding and getting better. Raskutty can speak Tamil and kannada language. Now he can able to work and we are trying to trace his address.

SUNDARI

Sundari was found on 08-11-2013 at Kalyanpura.She was mentally ill and holding one plastic bag roaming around the city,Sunil John Dsouza and team took her to Vishwasada Mane for care and to give her treatment.

Within short period of time of nursing and psychiatric care and treatment, she improved radically and able to work by herself.She can speak Hindi, we are searching for her address.

MUTTU

20 years aged Muttu was mentally disturbed,Near National highway of Katpady he was throwing stones at vehicles and to citizens.Sunil John Dsouza and team brought him to Vishwasada Mane on 23-12-2014 for care and medical treatment.

Gradually Muttu was recovered from mental illness.He can able to speak Tamil language.

VIMALA

On 29-10-2012 near streets of Katapady Vimala was found in the sate of wearing dirty clothes,picking garbage from the street.Because of soo many days not having any proper food to eat she was weak,had lice on her head -in this condition she was brought to Vishwasada Mane by Staffs for nursing and medical treatment.

Initially, while gaving care to her she was aggrerssive towards our staffs later by proper psychiatric care and treatment she became well behaved.Presently she is doing all sort of agricultural works in vishwasada mane.she can speak Marathi.We are searching for her address.

KAUSAR ALI

Kausar Ali was found by social workers from Udupi.Without shelter and food Kausar was wandering in Ambalpady near Udupi city.He seemed to be mentally ill so social workers admitted him to Vishwasada Mane Mentally Rehabilitation Centre.

Our organizations staffs looked after him with love & care and also got proper psychiatric treatment with our psychiatric doctor. Because of Love & care he regained his memory power.Presently Kausar Ali able to do mason work skillfully.Also he is very nice and friendly to other residents of Vishwasada Mane.He remembers his address and started to request the organization members to reunite with his family.Kausar Ali able to speak Bengali and Hindi,and he is been telling that he was from Ratua,West Bengal.

MURUGAN

Murugan was found in near Ucchila,roaming around the city aimlessly.He was an orphan and was suffering from mental illness.On public demand he was brought to Vishwasada Mane mentally Rehabilitation Centre

In Vishwasada Mane he was looked after with the love, care of our staff members and proper doctors treatment.After many months of care and treatment he began responding and getting better.Tamil speaking Murugan able to work normally now.He is very nice and friendly to other residents of Vishwasda Mane and helping other orphans in the organization.Vishwasada Mane team now earnestly tracing Murugan’s address and family details.
